HEAVILY FINED AT ROTGRUA. (By Telegraph—Press .Association.! ROTORUA. March 26. Hoti Mau. Rotorua, was today convicted and fined £l5O on a charge of bookmaking and £lOO for keeping a common gaming-house. A raid was mgde by the police on Hie accused's premises on Saturday. .Sub-Inspector E. J. Carroll state! that Mau had paid £595 in fines over (ho past 13 years. He was one of the largest bookmakers in the district. A sum of £319 8s 2d was seized in the raid. An assistant. S. Keesing. was convicted and fined £2O for assisting in the conduct of a gaming-house.
