EVENTS AT RANDWICK CUP WON BY MOSAIC. ROYAL CHIEF RUNS SECOND. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright SYDNEY, March 25. Mosaic justified the strong public confidence today by winning the Sy d - ney Cup for the second year in succession at Randwick amid cheers. The surprise of the race, however, was Royal Chief's splendid showing after his somewhat lean period. He maintained a handy position about fourth throughout the race and dashed past Yours Truly, who faded out at three furlongs, to assume the lead into the straight. Then Mosaic came on the scene and. leading Royal Chief at the leger, won full of running.

Yours Truly found the journey too far, despite his comparatively light weight and vigorous rider. Maikai travelled on the outside of the field but. finished on strongly to gain third place. Elanage and Round Up were near the tail throughout. The former New Zealander. Tidal Wave, a half-brother to Yours Truly, won the first division of the Wentworth Handicap.

The weather was fine. Results: — Easter Plate, for two-year-old fillies, 7f: Session (Munro) 1; Lady Neith 2; Sally Rich 3. Six started. Two lengths and a half: head. Time. 1.27 L Triteness was fourth.
