WEDDING

GRANTHAM—HARRINGTON. Recently in St Matthew’s Church, Masterton, by Archdeacon E. J. Rich. Mavis Gwendoline, only daughter of Mr J. E. and the late Mrs Harrington, Masterton, and formerly of Wellington, was married to Earl Leonard, youngest son of Mr and Mrs W. A. Grantham, Masterton. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in a gown of heavy brocaded satin in a leaf design. The high bodice formed a V-shaped neck-line, on which was worn a small spray of orange blossom that had been worn by the bride’s mother. The skirt fell from a high waistline, ending in a long fan-shaped train. Her beautiful tulle veil, which was worn over her face on entering the church, fell in three long cascades from a halo of pleated tulle and orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of lilies, carnations, orange blossom, gypsophila and maid-en-hair fern. The bride was attended by her cousin, Mrs C. Hislop, Petone. as matron-of-honour. . She was dressed in a cyclamen gown of stiffened crinkle taffeta. The neckline was square with a tiny bow of purple velvet ribbon at each side of the front. The waistline was marked with a purple velvet ribbon and the sleeves were short and puffed. The skirt was very full, with small velvet violets dotted around the bottom. Her headgear was a replica of the bride’s, with tulle in a cyclamen shade to tone with the gown. A small halo of violets backed by pleated tulle held the shoulder length veil in place. Her bouquet was of roses, carnations, and maidenhair fern.

The bridegroom was attended by Mr Lloyd Maguire as best man. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by Shirley Ann Pudney, niece of the bridegroom. The bride travelled in an all. blue ensemble with accessories of navy blue. Mr and Mrs E. L. Grantham will make their home in Masterton.
