Under the influence of Christmas spending, the banknote issue has reached a new all-time high record of 554.600,000. an increase of over a million pounds compared with the evacuation peak in mid-September. The increase compared with last year is now almost fifty million. Gilt-edged stocks are exhibiting renewed strength, despite holiday influences. but the demand for Dominion and Colonia] bonds is quiet.
