. APPROVED BY THE SENATE. INCOME TAX DOUBLED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 10 p.m.) BRUSSELS, December 29. The Senate approved the 1940 Budget of £172.000,000 sterling. It includes £75,000,000 emergency expenditure to cope with the present situation. Income tax is doubled to twenty per cent and a surplus profits tax has been introduced. 4
