] SCHOOL COMPETITIONS ADDITIONAL RESULTS. KEEN INTEREST TAKEN BY PARENTS AND OTHERS. i"Times-AKe” Special.) Keen interest has been taken by parents and others in the school calf club competitions conducted during the past week. KOPUARANGA. A fair sprinkling of parents and residents was present at Kopuaranga on Friday. In addressing the children after the judging Mi' L. A. Keats congratulated them on the high standard ot the stock shown and gave them some hints on selecting calves for competition. Messrs F. C. Brockett and B. Fenemor also addressed those present on various aspects of the Agriculture Club movement.

Daisy Fenemor. on behalf of the children, thanked all those whose assistance had helped and encouraged competitors, after which morning tea was served by the ladies present. The results were as follow, the judge being Mr L. A. Keats, of Mount Bruce six lambs and five calves being judged: Calves, dairy type: Robert Miller 1: Noel Cottle 2; Bruce Clarke 3. Carr and handling: Robert Miller 1; Bruce Clarke 2; Noel Cottle 3. Lambs: Mavi. 1 Cottle 1: Gwen Cottle 2; Evelyn Cottle 3. FERNRIDGE. Two calves and seven lambs were judged at the Fernridge School on Friday. The judges were: Lambs, Mi W. James: calves. Mr W. Harcombe. The results were as follow: —Calves dairy Type: Josephine Kerins 1: Ronald McKenzie 2. Lambs. Blackface. Norman Simonek 1: Jacqueline Griffith 2; Peter Kerins 3. Lambs, long wool Nita McKenzie 1: Gerald Laing 2; Rog er Laing 3. The serving of afternoon tea brought the proceedings to a close MANGAMAIRE. There was a good gathering of parents and others interested at the Mangamaire School on Monday. The judge (Mr E. H. Holdaway. Ballance) commented very favourably on the quality of the calves shown, stating that during the three years he had been judging he had noted very great progress, this season's calves being 100 per cent better than last year's. This progress told its own tale of the educational value of the competitions. The following were the results:--Calves, type: Joy Udy, 1; Sylvia Matson 2; Peter Wards 3. Calves, care and handling: Sylvia Matson 1; Margaret Roil 2; Joy Udy 3. Ralph Cup: Joy Udy. Team for competition, Pahiatua group: Joy Udy, Sylvia Matson,, Margaret Roil. Peter Wards. KONINI. At the Konini School on Monday six calves were submitted to the judge, Mr E. H. Holdaway. of Ballance. The results were:— Calves, type: lan Humphrey 1; Ngaire Humphrey 2: Marion Jensen 3. Calves, care and handling: Ngaire Humphrey 1; Marion Jensen 2; lan Humphrey 3. Team for competition. Pahiatua group: lan Humphrey, Ngaire Humphrey, Marion Jensen. MANGAPAKEHA. Eight lambs and seven calves were submitted to the judge (Mr-A. Schofield) at the Mangapakeha School yesterday, the results being as follow: — Calves, type, care and handling: Marian Douglas 1; Betty Douglas 2; Donald French 3. Lambs, long wool; Peggy Laing 1; David Owen 2: Lawrence A tack 3. Lambs. Blackface: Colleen Collerton 1. FUTURE JUDGING DATES.
