The new defence bonds announced by the Chancellor (J the Exchequer will be of a novel kind and will enable thasc hokling the maximum of 500 certificates Io continue to lend money to the Slate. Interest on the bonds will be subject to income lax but the tax will not be deducted al the source. An individual is not permitled Io hold over £l.OOO worth of bonds.
