PERMITTED INCREASES

(Uy Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day

The Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr Sullivan, states that immediately following the announcement of the new duties, an investigation made by the Price Investigation Tribunal with a view to ascertaining the amount the increase would mean in retail prices, had shown that an increase of one penny per packet of 10 was necessary in the price of cigarettes and an increase of 3d per two ounce tin for tobacco. These increases would be permitted.
