GREYHOUND RACING

PREPARATIONS FOR COMING MEETING. On Saturday week, October 7, the opening greyhound races of the season will be held at Solway Showgrounds. Members of the executive and sunporters of the Wairarapa Coursing Club have been busy getting the track in order during the last few weekends. Trial runs have also been held and the plant was found to be in smooth working order. Several young dogs showed good form and track sense, and competition is expected to be very keen on Saturday week. The events set down are the A. and P. Stakes. Maiden Hurdles, Wairarapa Open Flat (Ice Cream Company Challenge Cup), Grand Puppy Stakes. Open Hurdles and Ladies’ Plate, open. As there will be several heats in each event a good programme is assured.

The track is in first-class condition, and fast times will be put during the afternoon. The record, 24 3-5 seconds, will probably be broken as some very fast dogs are competing
