AIR ATTACK
REPORTED RAID ON ZEPPELIN BASE SWISS GENERAL STAFF COMMUNIQUE. PLANE FLIES OVER NEUTRAL TERRITORY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 12.15 p.m.) BERNE. September 25. A Swiss General Staff communique announces that an air attack apparently was delivered on Sunday evening against the Zeppelin base of Friedrichshafen. Bomb explosions and anti-aircraft fire were heard. An unknown plane flew up the German side of the Rhine and crossed over Switzerland near Schaffhausen, encountering Swiss anti-aircraft fire. THIRTY BOMBS BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN DROPPED. ’ TESTIMONY OF LISTENERS. (Received This Day, 12.15 p.m.) NEW YORK, September 25. An American Press Association correspondent at Romanshorn says listeners judged that thirty bombs were dropped and say tracer bullets were fired from anti-aircraft guns. The Swiss authorities are inquiring whether their territory was violated. It is not known what damage was inflicted of whether any planes were shot down. GERMAN DENIAL HIGH COMMAND’S STATEMENT. (Received This Day, 12.15 p.m.) BERLIN, September 25. The High Command flatly denies that a Zepoelin base was raided.
