Four medals also accompany the cup to be worn by the successful competitors in the rink. It was resolved that a book be procured for the purpose of recording the winners’ names. The question of rules and regulations were left to the match committee to frame. It was decided that the president should have the honour of selecting the first team as holders of the cup. A hearty vote of thanks and appreciation was passed to the family of the late Mr Masson for their very valuable gift.

Mr F. Harrington’s offer to make and present to the club a cabinet to house the club’s trophies was received with thanks.

Hughan; colts handicap singles, Mr W. Bird. ANNUAL REPORT. The president (Mr W. C. Robertson) presented the following report: —In submitting this the 42nd annual report on the activities of the club, your committee feels that the 1938-39 season was as in the past, marked vzith good fellowship and sociability and express the hope- that the same will continue. At the present time the membership of the club consists of 48 ordinary, 1U honorary and 5 life members-. During the year an area of land was purchased by the club from Messrs Hill and Hughes which adjoins the club property, at a cost of £lOO. This area is suitable for a second green or other sport requirements, and it is considered a good investment. Your green committee gave careful consideration to the state of the green, and expert advice was obtained. Mi’ Horton, of Palmerston North, examined the green and he laid down a certain formula which was carried but, with good result, and we must thank the members who assisted in pulling the green in order for grassing. Our pavilion was painted and greatly improved by a working bee, and your committee must thank Messrs Callander, M. Simmonds and others for the satisfactory way this work was done, at a great saving to the club. Considerable necessary expense was entailed during the season, and it is considered that our membership should bo increased to at least 60, and every effort should be made by members" to assist in that direction. The year’s work shows a loss of £24 Is Id. The total expenditure is practically the same as the previous year but members subscriptions are down by £24 on the previous year which is to be regretted. On the other hand the liability to the W.T. Building Society has been reduced by £2B, leaving a balance of £33 owing relative to loan of £3OO. The club competitions were productive of some very interesting games and good exhibition of bowling resulted. During the season the clue lost by death one of its greatest bowlers in the person of Mr W. T. Masson, and your committee extends its sympathy to his relatives. They in their have seen fit to present tc the club a silver cup and four badges to be competed for in club rink games.
