TIENTSIN CONVERSATIONS SUSPENDED DESIRE FOR CONTINUANCE. SURRENDER OF ACCUSED MEN CRITICISED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 10.15 a.m.) LONDON. September 7. In the House of Commons the Foreign Under-Secretary (Mr R. A. Butler) announced that the Tientsin conversations had been suspended. He added that the Government was willing and anxious to continue the conversations in the hope of reaching an agreement on outstanding points. Considerable criticism followed the announcement that the four accused Chinese had been handed over to Japan. to which Mr Butler replied thal many technical and legal questions were involved. The Government had taken the best advice and had regard to the decision of the High Court.
