LOYAL ULSTER
CALL TO DUTY FULLY RECOGNISED GREAT RUSH OF RECRUITS. STATEMENT BY LORD CRAIGAVON (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) RUGBY, September 6. Lord Craigavon has issued the following statement: “In no part of the United Kingdom has the call to duty been more deeply recognised than in loyal Ulster. Her people, in common with fellow-citizens throughout the United Kingdom, are throwing their full weight and entire resources into the conflict which has been forced upon Britain and the Empire. Enlistment during the past few days has been so overwhelming that the staffs of the various recruiting centres are experiencing the greatest difficulty in coping with the situation. Ulster awaits any further demands which may be made upon her by the Imperial authorities and I am glad to say good order and discipline prevail throughout.” DEFENCE INFORMATION BEING SENT TO GERMANY. BY LEGATION IN DUBLIN. (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) BELFAST, September 6. Lord Craigavon told the House of Commons that defence information relating to Northern Ireland was being conveyed to the German Legation in Dublin, whence it was sent to Germany. Mr. Thomas Henderson, member for Belfast, said air raid protection and other like information went to Germany. “I don’t think the German Minister should remain in Dublin. If the Government of South Ireland are in the Empire they should remove that man immediately and let the Empire see that they are with us.” Lord Craigavon said the British Government had been informed and action was being taken.
