In the nation doubles tennis contest Quist and Bromwich defeated Kramer and Van Horn, 6/1, 4/6, 6/3, 6/4, and will meet Mako and Tidball in the quarter-finals. Crawford and Hopman defeated Kamrath and Hudlow, 6/4, 6/4, 3/6, 6/3. They also advance into the quarter-finals. Among other interesting matches oi upsets in the national doubles today were the following: Bobbitt and Guernsey defeated Sanchez and Ampon, the Filipino Davis Cup players, 8/6, G/3, 4/6, 6/3; Peacock and Imhoff defeated Brugnon and Destrameau, 6/4, 6/2, 6/3. Bromwich seemed to be in top form in the first five games but then started making errors. His forehand was extremely unsteady. It was clear that he needed much practice in the forecourt.
