The film will be produced on a scale comparable to “Gunga Din.” and will feature several of filmdom's leading stars. RKO-Radio have purchased Dr. A. J. Cronin's latest novel, "Vigil in the Night.” The film will serve as a starring vehicle for Carole Lombard, who just recently completed "The Kind Men Marry.” The story is a romantic drama. of love and sacrifice built around the efforts of a young woman to save her sister, studying to be e nurse, from the results of a moment of carelessness responsible for the death of a hospital patient. George Stevens has been assigned to direct. “American School Teacher.” described as a highly dramatic story, has been purchased by RKO-Radio as a starring vehicle for Bob Burns. Burns, philosopher, screen and American radio star, will appear in the title role, the story being based on the life of George Bricker's father, Daniel S. Bricker, for 52 years one of America’s foremost teachers. George Haight will produce. “Night of January 16” will have Lucille Ball in the leading role. The play ran for over 235 performances at the Ambassadors, New York, and was highly successful in London. It was written by Miss Ayn Rand, who created a novel ending, requiring that a jury from the theatre audience be empanelled to try a girl accused of murdering her employer. Two endings wore written for the play, to fit a verdict either of guilt of acquittal.
