Miss Marcello McMillan, of Wellington, is a visitor to Masterton and is' the guest of Mrs P. Hamill, Masterton. The death occurred at a private hospital in Palmerston North yesterday of Mrs Irene Hume, formerly of Masterton. Messrs G. I. Windel-Born (Hamilton.) and Scott (Palmerston North) are visitors to Masterton and are staying at the Prince of Wales Hotel. Messrs L. R. Dransfield, A. T. Poulton, J. P. Tylee, C. B. Tylee, A. H. Eglinton, G. C. Powell, IV. Parker, J. D. Murphy and F. T. Rutherford have been appointed as members of the Makuri Domain Board. The area of the domain totals about 41 acres. At the Charity Ball at Masterton on Wednesday night his Grace Archbishop O'Shea will be officially welcomed to Masterton by the Mayor (Mr T. Jordan), it being his first visit to the town since his return from a world tour.

Fitting recognition of 40 years' association with the Levin Co-operative Dairy Company was made yesterday when shareholders presented Mr and Mrs Broadbelt with a silver tea and coffee service and a cheque. Mr Broadbelt has been a director of the company since 1899, with 23 years as chairman of directors to his credit. The death occurred in Taihape of Mr John Cooper, Ruakura, at the age of 74 years. Born in Gladstone, Wairarapa. Mr Cooper settled in the Taihape district in 1889. He was first employed on Ngamatea Station, and then moved on to Erewhon Station, where for two years he looked after the back country, known as Mutumatai. He entered the employ of Mr T. Bailey, and remained with him for 14 years, and then moved on to. the Pukeokahu district, near the Rangitikei River, and afterward managed a property up the Wanganui River. Later he took up farming at Raukura. He leaves a widow and four sons and two daughters.

The death occurred in Napier, at the age of 89 years, of Mr Leicester Redward. an old identity of Hawke’s Bay. Born in Portsmouth. England, in 1850. Mr Rcdward arrived in New Zealand in the barque Maria in 1863. and took up his residence at the Lake Station, which was then owned by his brothers. He lived in Hawke's Buy till 1396. when he moved to Gisborne, where lie served with the firm of Williams and Kettle. Ltd., till his retirement in 1830. since when he had lived in Napier. He pioneered the Boy Scout movement in the district, holding flic position ol district commander of Poverty Bay Boy Scouts and Commissioner for Northern Hawke's Bay.
