OBITUARY

MRS J. SMITH. The death occurred late yesterdaj r afternoon of a highly rqspected resident of Masterton in the person of Mrs John Smith, of Renall Street, after a long illness. The late Mrs Smith . was born at ( Taratahi 72 years ago, and was the daughter of Mr and Mrs John Richardson. She was first married to Mr William McKenzie, son of the late Mr and Mrs Alex. McKenzie, of Homebush, who died some 38 years ago. In 1905 she was married to Mr John Smith, of Clareville, who died about 15 years ago. Mrs Smith had resided in Masterton for many years and took a keen interest in the affairs of Knox Church. She leaves a son (Mr A. W. McKenzie, of Renall Street, Masterton), and two daughters (Misses Christina and Ivy McKenzie, Masterton). Another daughter, Miss Mary McKenzie, died some years ago. The sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended to the relatives in their bereavement. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon, leaving Mrs Smith’s late residence, 114 Renall Street at. 2 o’clock for the Masterton Cemetery. MRS E. S. PRAGNELL. The death occurred in Masterton this morning of Mrs Easter Mary White Pragnell, who had resided in Masterton for a considerable number of years. Born at Muthill, Perthshire, Scotland, 44 years ago, she came to New Zealand with her aunt 38 years ago and had resided in Masterton since that date. She was associated with the old Knox Church Choir. She was married in Masterton to Mr Eric Stanley Pragnell 14 years ago and is survived by her husband and two young children, a son and daughter. She is also survived by two sisters and three brothers. The sisters are Mesdames A. Baker and R. Henderson, both of Palmerston North, and the brothers Messrs J. G. Miller and Alex Miller (Masterton) and T. M. Miller, Postmaster, Ohaeawai, Bay of Islands. The funeral will take place on Friday and will leave the Iqte residence, 73* Church Street, at 1 p.m. for the Masterton Cemetery.
