Chinese guerillas have reconquered a huge area of Anhwei, the Japanese retaining control only of the riverside cities and a narrow strip along the railways. Chinese have ejected, shot and taken prisoner Chinese officials nominated by the Japanese in the Shucheng, Tungcheng and Lilian districts. • The Japanese, owing to their losses, have abanJoned attempts at the further invasipn of uiese territories.
