GOLF CLUB MATCH. FEATHERSTON BEAT PIRINOA. (“Times-Age" Special.) The second round of the Stableford competition held on Saturday afternoon resulted as follows: —G. O’Nijale. 36, 6, 40, receives 3 points; W. Jeffrey, 23, 10, 33, receives 2 points; J. McCallum, 22, 10, 32, and H. Lovegrove, 14. 18, 32, receive half a point each. An all day match with Pirinoa, played at Featherston on Sunday, resulted in a win for Featherston by 9 games to 8 (singles) and 5 games to 4 (fourball). Individual results are as follow (Featherston names mentioned first):— Singles.—W. Rowles beat B. McMaster; H. Wehipeihana lost to J. Pike; K. Allen beat G. Munro; J. Wilson beat D. ,Tikaq; G. QUEEN CARNIVAL. SOCIAL GATHERING. Mr and Mrs. Fellingham held another of their successful social gatherings on Saturday, when a large number attended add enjoyed cards, competitions and community singing. Mis Charles won the first prize among the ladies in the 500 tournament, with Mrs A. Tail second. In the men’s division Mr. C. Crawford was first, Mrs. Cassidy (acting) second; Mrs Hoskings won the consolation prize. Miss Card won the box of chocolates and Miss Nancy Hatton, the mysterious parcel. The Monte Carlo was won by Mr B; McNamara and Miss Lois Ritchie. The M.C. was Mr. Alex McLeod, and music was supplied by Mis J. Brash and Mr B. Barnard.

Mr and Mrs. G. Yule, South Featherston, held a very pleasant gathering at their residence on Friday in aid of the Red Queen (Miss N. Tocker). A very happy time was spent in interesting and novel competitions and games. Mrs. Carlyon was the winner of the memory test. The signs competition was won by Miss N. Wilton. Billiards, cards and community singing were also enjoyed. The Blue Queen (Miss Anne Fellingham) was present. Mrs. Yule presented Miss Tocker with a beautiful shoulder spray. Supper was provided. In aid of the Gold Queen (Miss Eileen Cole) a most enjoyable dance was held in Mr. Brandon's woolshed on Saturday night. The raffles were won as follow: joox of chocolates, Mr. Martyn; clothes hanger and shoe trees. Mrs| Hudson. A very successful shop day was held in the Town Hall on Friday last for funds in aid of the Gold Queen (Miss Eileen Cole). The following were the winners of the various raffles: Bag of sugar, Mr. J. Fraser; dinner (donated by Mr Hardie). Mrs Charlan 1. Mrs E. Lewis 2; cake (donated by Miss Hos.king), Mrs. Axup; tin of sweets, C. Pongloise; gollywog, Mr. Luttrel.

Personal. Mr and Mrs. H. R. Burt have left on a motor tour to Auckland. Football Notes. Juniors.—The Featherston juniors journeyed to Masterton and added another victory to their credit at the expense of Old Boys, the score being 6/3. Ray Houghton and Eric McKenzie scored a try each for the winners while Martin scored a try for the losers. Featherston played two men short until five minutes before half-time when Wheeler and Woodman arrived and made their presence felt. Houghton and Wheeler were the outstanding forwards, with the rest of the pack play ing their usual bustling game. The backs are on the improve. Eric Robb fed his back from the scrum well, bu he should try and get the ball away a bit quicker from the serum. Colin Polglase again played a safe game at fullback but he should play a bit closer up. Jimmy White is a dangerous man when he gets going near the line. He should always use both hands. Rushes could be stopped by falling on the ball instead of trying to pick it up or kicking it.

The Featherston thirds suffered their first defeat, going under to Wairarapr College, at the College grounds by IP points to 6. Don’t be down-hearted boys, as the College is a really good team, and their speed and combination beat you. Paddy Ritchie kept his end up as a goal kicker and notched two penalty goals, Featherston's only points.

Through a misunderstanding the match between Featherston and Martinborough fourth was not played. Although 22 boys turned up at the local Recreation Ground for the match, they held a practice and showed some good form. They are lucky in having Ben Couch, who {ravelled all the way from Pirinoa for the
