SATURDAY’S EVENTS MASTERTON CLUB’S TRAINING RUN. JUNIOR RACE TO GREENLEES. On Saturday afternoon the Masterton Harrier Club held a seven miles training run over a trail laid by Messrs J. J. Hunter and R. Bell, covering the golf links’ hill and surrounding country. The harriers were divided into two packs, one the “slow” pack under G. Gregory and the other, the “fast” pack under W. Pullar. The members gained considerable experience from the run, and in view of the visit of the Hutt Valley Club next Saturday, every member is requested to turn out during the week for training. The juniors held a sealed handicap race, which was won by Peter Greenlees, who is running consistently well. The placings and times were:—P. Greenlees, 15min 56sec (handicap, 30 secs), 1; D. Cairns, 15min 59sec (30 secs), 2; P. Reynolds, 15min 32sec (scr), 3; K. Cairns 16min 26sec (45sec) 4; E. Knott, 20mins 34sec (2mins 30 secs); 5; E. Scandrett, 20mins 30sec (2 mins), 6.

The limit men set a very, fast pace, and the scratch men had a very hard race. However, about a mile from home, M. Doyle closely followed by N. The placings are as follow: —G. Laing (4 min), 1, M. Doyle (20s), 2; N. Jacobsen (scr), 3; J. Hodgetts (3min 20sec), 4; C. Summers (45sec), 5. Fastest times were recorded by N. Jacobson, 17.9, 1; M. Doyle, 17.28, 2; C. Summers, 19.19, 3; J. Laing, 20.55, 4. For the seniors, G. Bell and R. Wylie were first away, followed by D. Nelson and R. Searancke. For the first round the back markers failed to make up much leeway, the leaders being G. Bell and D. Nelson. But as the second lap progressed W. Burgess, R. Greeks, B. Falloon and W. McDonald began to make the pace, and with a mile and a half to go, the placings were G. Bell, D. Nelson, B. Falloon, followed by W. Burgess and R. Greeks in close attendance. As in the junior race the limit men held their own, the final placings being:— G. Bell (6min), 1; D. Nelson ' (4.40), 2; B. Falloon (1.30), 3; W. Burgess (50sec), 4; R. Greek (50sec), 5; W.
