Mrs B. H. Norman, of Hopelands, was a recent visitor to New Plymouth. Recent guests at the Chateau Tongariro included Mr. and Mrs. D. Wilson, Featherston. Miss U. Holtham of Queen Street, Masterton. has returned after a holiday spent in the South Island. Mrs C. Torr. Pownall Street. Masterton, was a weekend visitor to Hastings. Mrs Longstaff. of Essex Street, Masterton, has returned from a visit to Hawke’s Bay. Mrs T. McKenzie, of Taumarunui, is the guest of Mrs J. Swanney, Kpitawa. Mrs David Caselberg, of Masterton, who has been spending a month's holiday at Eastbourne, has returned home. Mrs R. Burke and Miss L. Cotter, of Pahiatua, are on a motor tour of the North Island. Mrs W. H. Bagley, of Masterton, who has been staying with Mrs J. Swanney, Kaitawa, has returned home. Mr and Mrs Douglas Allen, of Hastings, who have been visiting Auckland, are the guests of Mr and Mrs W. H. Nelson, “Laureston,” Woodville. Mrs B. Broadbent, of Pahiatua, and formerly of Masterton, was a visitor to Masterton during the weekend. Mrs Broadbent will shortly take up her residence in Hamilton. Mr and Mrs W. C. Arrow and the Misses M. and J. Arrow, of Hopelands, have recently been on a three weeks’ motor tour of parts of the North Island, in the course of which they visited the chief tourist resorts. The death occurred in Auckland on Thursday, at the age of 82 years, of Mrs Mary Kennedy Haliburton, widow of the late Robert Haliburton, of Pahiatua. The late Mr Haliburton was engaged in farming for many years between Ngaturi and Makuri and Mr and Mrs Haliburton were among the earliest Ngaturi settlers, being well-known and highly esteemed in the district. They were also residents of Mangamutu for some years.
