The Supreme Council greeted with tremendous applause the announcement of a record defence Budget. It amounts to 40,885,000,000 roubles, compared with 27,000.000,000 last year. M. Zverev told members that it was necessitated by the tenseness of the international situation. All countries, specially the Fascist ones, were engaging in an armaments race, he said. The Red Army and Navy were now ready to answer threefold a blow from warmongers and were prepared to crush decisively violators of the Soviet border. The present session of Parliament will discuss foreign policy.
