MINING DISPUTES

NINETY MEN IDLE AT KAMO. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WHANGAREI, May 26. As a result of a decision to stop work on Wednesday afternoon, 90 men at the Kamo collieries are idle. A conference of the men and the management was to have been held this afternoon. The main point in dispute concerns the hewing of coal during the dog watch instead 'of development work. HOLD-UP ON WEST COAST. GREYMOUTH. May 26. The Strongman State mine is idle today because of the department's refusal to grant concessions claimed by the men. An agreement was completed recently on the basis of the Dobson mine agreements. The Strongman mine employees are now claiming further concessions.
