The Hon H. G. R. Mason AttorneyGeneral, will return to Wellington from Auckland today. The Hon P. C. Webb, Minister of Labour, will return to Wellington from the South Island today.

The Hon W. Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, returned to Wellington from the north yesterday. Mr A. Latimer, stationmaster at Masterton, has found it necessary to enter the Masterton Hospital for treatment. He became ill last night somewhat suddenly. His many friends will wish him a speedy recovery. There was a large attendance at the funeral yesterday afternoon of the late Mr John Parrott Lett, of Taueru, residents from all parts of the district being present. Many beautiful wreaths were in evidence. The Rev E. J. Rich conducted a service at St Matthew’s Church, and also officiated at the cemetery. Messrs R. Garland. G. Garrett, H. A. Harcombe, V. Heath, B. Duffy and J. Mackley acted as pall-bearers. Captain S. Holm was elected president of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce last night. He succeeds Mr P. E. Patrick. Captain Holm is managing director of the shipping firm, Holm and Co., Ltd. He is an elected member of the council of the chamber and also represents the New Zealand Shipowners’ Federation. He became a member of the chamber in 1927, and has been on the council since 1930. except for the years 1932-34 inclusive. Previously he was for eight years on the council of the Wanganui chamber.

The well-known professional golfer, Mr E. J. Moss, has been appointed professional to the Maungakiekie Golf Club. Mr Moss has had a successful playing career. In 1921 he was run-ner-up to Mr E. S. Douglas in both the New Zealand professional and open championships and he has won each event on three occasions since then. He won the open in 1924, 1‘27 and 1933 and was professional champion for three successive years, 1923-4-5. Mr Moss arrived in' Auckland in 1920 and was attached to the Auckland Club for 16 years.
