The newspaper “Pravda” features the disclosure of the arrest of two workers, who, with their mothers, were found to have been concealing more than £250.000 worth of gems since the revolution. The women were widows of wealthy Uzbekisthan Khans. They were forced to live most frugally for 21 years despite their fortune because it was impossible to dispose of the gems without revealing their guilt, as possession of gems is illegal.
