EAT MORE CHEESE

CONSUMPTION IN CANADA. OTTAWA. Canada recently observed its annual “Eat More Cheese” week and by so doing drew attention to the fact that as a consumer of this table delicacy the average Canadian family does not eat as much as those in most other countries. The average consumption of ifheese in Canada is 3.53 pounds per person. While Canada possibly produces the best cheddar cheese in the world and exports large quantities every year, particularly to the British market, small quantities are imported to meet the requirements of the table epicure. In the month of September, imports into Canada of cheese amounted to 56,681 pounds valued at 11,820 dollars. Switzerland supplied 12,239 pounds, New Zealand 12,111 pounds. United States 8,624 pounds, Netherlands 6,094 pounds, Finland 4,309 pounds and Italy 4,124 pounds.
