NEW SALUTE

OBSERVANCE BY GERMAN WOMEN. A new form of salute which women are to execute in Reichsfuhrer Adolf Hitler’s presence at social functions was used for the first time on August 24. The new salute, used by women guests at a State banquet for Admiral Nicholas Horthy, Regent of Hungary, is delivered by raising the right hand shoulder high with a bent elbow, the salutei’ at the same time slightly inclining the head. A change in the etiquette protocol provided for this modified form of the regular stiff-armed National Socialist gesture.
