CHILLED BEEF

REFRIGERATING ENGINEERS’ CONFERENCE New Zealand chilled beef trade with the United Kingdom, which only commenced in the 1933-34 season, has developed so rapidly on satisfactory lines that the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board considered that the time was opportune to call a general conference of engineers associated with the various freezing works concerned in this trade, for the purpose of discussing technical aspects with a view to further improvement in the out-turn of the meat when displayed on the English market. Mr T. A. Duncan (chairman of the board) presided at this conference which has just concluded, and there was a good representation of the interests concerned. Discussions took place of an informative nature, and much valuable information was made generally available with the object of securing further improvement in the methods of handling this important feature of the Dominion’s meat production.
