Y.M.C.A.

MEETING OF AUXILIARY. The president (Mrs G. R. Beecroft) presided at the monthly meeting of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Masterton Y.M.C.A. held yesterday afternoon. There was a good attendance of members. A report was given on the very successful Mother and Daughter Tea held during the month. This had been the largest function of its kind ever held in the Association’s Rooms and taxed the seating capacity of the new hall to its utmost. Arrangements were made for the annual Father and Son banquet to be held in October. The date suggested was Tuesday, October 18. An attractive programme ,was suggested. The General Secretary announced that it was proposed to give the gymnasium concert during the first week in November, and a varied and interesting programme would be provided. Another forthcoming activity was the visit of a team of basketball players from the Wanganui Association on Saturday next. At the conclusion of the meeting a “Bring and Buy” afternoon was held among the members, after which Mesdames Prescott, Wadham and Welch entertained members at afternoon tea.
