CHILDREN’S HOME

* MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The vice-chairman (Mr F. E. Wells) presided at the monthly meeting of the Management Committee of the Masterton Methodist Cnildren’s Home. The Matron, Miss .Allan, in her report on the Home, stated that apart from a few cases of sickness, which naturally disturbed the routine of the rtome, all was proceeding satisfactorily. School reports had been received and considering the broken time some of the children had had these were quite good. The secretary-manager reported that two of the boys had been placed in good positions, and that an opening had been found for a third. A deficiency of £B4 was reported for the month. An application for adoption was received and arrangements were made to meet the same. Routine and personal business occupied the meeting for much of the time, and it was stated that the next meeting would be the annual meeting of the committee. The following gifts to the Home are acknowledged with gratitude:—Mr Grey, 3 sacks apples; Mr Shaw, sacks of potatoes and swedes; Mrs Inder, clothing; Mrs Parker, clothing; Mrs Coker, clothing; Mrs Prior, clothing; Y.M.C.A., cakes; Y.M.8.C., pine cones; Wesley Church, oranges and apples; Cosy Theatre, invitation to pictures; Orchestral Society, invitation to concert; Mr Cody, wool and oddments; Y.W.8.C., tea, cakes and sandwiches; Mrs Warham, jig-saw puzzles, clothes; Mr K.
