OBITUARY
MR TOM GLOVER SYDNEY, September 7. The death occurred suddenly today of the well-known cartoonist Tom Glover, of the “Sun” newspaper, aged 47. He was formerly political cartoonist of the “New Zealand Free Lance.” The late Mr Glover, who was one of the most popular cartoonists in Australia, commenced his career in Wellington. He came to New Zealand from London, where he was born, a: a youth, and followed various occupations before he became a cartoonist. His early political cartoons gained attention in Wellington, and in 1922 he was offered and accepted a position as cartoonist on the “Bulletin.” There he remained for three or four years until he transfered to the Sydney “Sun,” which had employed him ever since. Mr Glover married twice. His first wife was formerly Miss Dulcie Quig, Wellington, who died shortly after the birth of their second child, and the second was formerly Miss May Carstaire, Wellington, by which marriage there was also a child. Mr Glover is survived by his widow.
