FEATHERSTON

WAIRARAPA RACING CLUB. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of stewards of the Wairarapa Racing Club was held yesterday, Mr Q. Donald (president), being in the chair. There were also present Messrs D. Cameron, J. F. Thompson, Thos. Benton, D. H. S. Riddiford. Roy Donald, C. J. Nix, R. A. Donald, W. Howard Booth and N. C. C. Shepherd (secretary). Mr Q. Donald was re-elected chairman of stewards. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs J. W. Card, R. N. Barton, A. C. Pearce, D. C. Collins and H. Lawson. A vote of condolence was passed in silence to the relatives of the late Mr J. G. McDonald, of Carterton. The finance statement showed that the receipts since the last meeting totalled £2B 14s Bd. Accounts amounting to £39.3 6s 4d were passed for payment. Five new members were elected. The resignation of Mr W. J. Gates, Greytown, who is leaving the district, was accepted.with regret. The trustees of the late W. E.-Bidwill Estate advised that they were in a position to pay the balance of the legacy of £2OOO, bequeathed to the club. The resignation of Mr Jack Martin as a steward was accepted with regret. Mr E. D. Martin, of Martinborough, was elected to fill the vacancy. The following sub-committees were appointed for the ensuing year:— Course, Messrs A. C. Pearce, C. J. Nix, W. Howard Booth, Roy Donald and D. C. Collins; finance, Messrs J. W. Card. D. H. S. Riddiford, R. N. Barton and H. Lawson; programme. Messrs J. W. Card, D. H. S. Riddiford, R. N. Barton, Roy Donald and H. Lawson; entertaining, Messrs W. J. Martin, D. Cameron, T. Benton, J. W. Card, the Hon. A.'D. McLeod, J. F. Thompson and D. H. S. Riddiford; catering, Messrs W. Howard Booth, A. C. Pearce and D. H. S. Riddiford: beautifying, Messrs W. J. Martin. D. H. S. Riddiford and W. Howard Booth; at start, Messrs R. A. Donald and Roy Donald; horses in, Messrs A. C. Pearce and D. C. Collins; horses out, Messrs W. Howard Booth, and E. D. Martin; course steward, Mr R. N. Barton; totalisator, Mr H. Lawson; judicial. Messrs J. W. Card, •O. Donald, C. J. Nix, A. C. Pearce and D. H. S. Riddiford. The chairman is an ex-officio member of all sub-commit-tees.
