DEATH OF MR W. BETTY

MASTERTON’S FIRST POSTMAN.

There was a large attendance at the funeral of the late Mr William Betty, whose death occurred in Wellington this week at the age of 75 years. He spent his early days in Masterton, being the first postman here, after which he was transferred to Wellington. He was one of the oldest members of the Masterton Rechabite Lodge, a member of the Methodist Choir for a number of years, and also a member of the Victoria Bowling Club, of Wellington.

A funeral service was held at the Wesley Church prior to the burial at which the Reverends Richards. Harlem and Paris officiated.
