WOOL MARKET
FIRST WEEK OF LONDON SALES. ACTIVE DEMAND. (Reed This Day, 11.10 a.m.) LONDON, May 13. At the wool sales 7815 bales were offered, including 947 New Zealand, and 6372 were sold. There was a fair selection, an active demand and a good clearance but slipes and speculators’ lots of greasy Merinos frequently were withdrawn, owing to firm limits. The first week of the wool sales closed with a satisfactory tone. The prices ruling were unchanged on the opening rates with the exception of slipes, which continued to be irregular.
