MAYORAL CANDIDATES THANK ELECTORS MR. JORDAN ON PARTY POLITICS. 1 Following on the announcement of the Masterton mayoral results last night, the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, and the other two candidates, Messrs L. J. Taylor and A. Rippon, briefly addressed a large gathering from the balcony of the Municipal Buildings. Mr Jordan, who was greeted with applause, said that now the campaign was over something might be said about party politics. “As long as I have endeavoured to serve the public,” he added, “my only politics have been the welfare of the community. That is the policy that I intend to carry out in the future.” After making some passing reference to his association with Prime Ministers and other members of various Governments, Mr Jordan said: “You have done the right, thing today, but I am sorry that in doing what you believed to be right you have separated me from my old friend Councillor Rippon. The poll for the return of two Wairarapa district representatives in the Wellington Harbour Board resulted in the re-election of the retiring members. Messrs Hugh Morrison and T. R.
