Riots at Belfast.
Losses, January 30. Belfast is in a terrible state of panic. The riots have boon resumed, aud wholesale slaughter has been the result. The disturbance arose on Saturday evening iu a dispute between some soldiers and some excited Catholic partisans. In the course of the dispute the soldiers gave vent to some strong language, and it is alleged grossly insulted the Catholics. Nothing of a serious character occurred that night, but on the following night (Sunday) the Catholics mastered in strong force aud threatened the soldiers. A riot ensued, in the course of which the police fired upon the mob. A shocking scene followed. The infuriated rioters charged the police, who in turn defended themselves with their rifles. Thirty persons were killed, and hundreds ate wounded.
