There were not many of the orioketen out on Saturday to practice, but aides were chosen from those ou the ground by Messrs Webster and Cox, Mr Cox's side scoring 61, and Mr Webster’s 69, one innings eaeh side. The sides were made up of soma of the yonng lade belonging to the school, several of their nomber acquitting themselves very well. J Judd 5 wickets for 14 runs, Nation 3 for 16, G Jackson 1 for 6.
The following are chosen to represent the Greytown second eleven against Dalefield on Saturday next, ISth instant. It is necessary that the eleven sboold make an endeavor to practice this week, as Dalefield are by no means despicable opponents. There will be practice every afternoon end every member of the club should avail himself of this opportunity:—G Jackson, F W Jaokson, J Eoolefon, E Turner, A Wakeliu, G Hawke, B Judd, J Hobman, J Maguire, J Jaokson, A Maguire, G Lackland. The orioket match between the Greytown school boys and the Masterton school boys did not eventuate on Saturday, owing to the weather not being favorable. The Pbcanix dab may send a team up here on the 320 d January (Anniversary Day). No doubt the Working Men's Club of Wellington will pay their annual visit to Greytown to engage in friendly contest with the Working Men’s Club of Greytown, when a good match match may be expected. The Wellington cricketers have two matches to play daring Christmas week, one with Nelson and the other with Canterbury, (both in Wellington). In a match in one of the country towns of New South Wales 16 runs were made off one hj t, in the following manner :—The ball was fait clean into a creek, and floating, it oonld not be called “ lost." It being out of reaob. a fieldsman had to clean strip and swam for it, the number stated having been made in the meantime.
