Wool Sales.
Meumcbhk, December 8. Mtaanfi. Goldsborongh and Co. held their weekly nit thii afternoon to a large attendance of boyera. Competition for all lota we* brisk. Seven thousand bales were etosed, of which 4100 were sold at prices which an on an equality with those realised atAe London sales. Greasy wool is Id to Id wwer, and scoured from Id to lid lower. In f°°d greeay lambs and tight crossbreds then is no material change to report. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Ageney Company (Limited) have received the following telegram from their London office, dated 7th instantWool—The following dwliDee in prices maj be quoted as baring taken place since close ol last sales, riz.:— Greasy merino, Id to l|d per lb ; do do, new ehp, |d to Id per lb; clothing, washed, 2d to 2jd ; scoured, washed, 2sd to 3d ; fine gnasy crossbred, Id to lid ; coarse greasy cross* bred, id to Id ; fine washed crossbred, Id to Ifd; coarse washed crossbred, Jd to Id; fine scoured crossbred, lid to 2d ; coarse scoured crossbred. Id. For lambs’ wool Uie market is unchanged. Competition on French account is sluggish, and there is much irregularity in the bidding. The total quantity catalogued to date is 69,000 bales, ud 12,000 bales have been held over lor future disposal. Wheat.—The market genen ally is better and we think will continue improving. Victorian is worth 36s 9d per 496 bags. New Zealand, average quality, 35a : Jbtto, long berried, 36s 6d. Tallow—Has been higher since we last telegraphed, but has sioee declined and the market is quiet. Good mutton is worth 28s per cwt; ditto beef, 245. leather.— Market unchanged. meat.—Market sluggish. New Zee* lud mutton, weighing 601b to 651b, is worth fid per lb.
Dcmdct, December 9. The first wool sale of the season was held today, when the attendance of buyers was very good, including Home representatites. Notwithstanding the adverse rt ports of the progress of the London sales, competition fnr crossbreds was very good, and prices were up to expectations ; but lor merinos the fi—mnd was weak, and prices (compared with Crossbred) were much lower. Greasy cross* bred medium brought 7d to Sd; ditto, light, BJd to 10jrd , the latter being for 81 lilts from Glenlidi ; greasy long wool. 7c? to 7Jt; merino, heavy, 6Jd to 7d; ditto, light, 74d to B|d.
