At the inqnest held at Caterton yesterday on the body of the little girl, Ellen Peterson, who was run over on the 3rd instant by a h< iteman, the jury brought in a verdict of manalanghter against William Pilkington, the rider of the horse.

To Tawhiao, sou of the Maori Kmg, died on Wednesday night at Whatiwhatihoe. Conflicting ieeonnts are being received from the Kimbei ley goldfields. It is stated that some of the diggers are getting gold, while kindreds are leaviug the field every week.
