Meeting at Carterton.
A meeting was hold at Mr Whyte's rooms, Cater* ton on Wednesday evening, when the (juestion of proclaiming Carterton a borough was considered. Mr K Fairbmther was called to the chair and the pros and cons of the matter received due consideration. Mr (.» t’airhrotlier moved the desirability of taking steps to prr>claim the Borough. This was seconded by Mr (Jammu and carried by » good majority. Mr G Fairbrolhcrihcn moved that the boundaries he from Mr A Booth’s north, to DalefleM Hoad boundary south, taking in Uutland Hoad as a boundary on one side, with the nearest section boundary northwards, which was seconded by Mr T A Weston. An amendment by Mr A Armstrong altering those boundaries and another by Mr Allen promising that the meeting adjourn until after the next meeting of the Town Board were also proposed, but Mr G Fairbrother’s resolution was passed by a large majority. A boundary committee was formed consisting of'the following gentlemen Messrs K Fairbrothcr, A L Whyte, Weston, Bennett, Cainpin, Parker, and G Fairbrother.
