THE GRAND ANNUAL SHOW Under the Auspices and Directions ol the WAIRARAPA & EAST COAST PASTORAL AND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY Will be held on the SOCIETY’S SHOW GROUNDS. CARTERTON, ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 3,1886. THE SHOW Will include Horses, Cattle. Sheep, Pigs, Implements, Farm and Dairy Produce, Vehicles and Industrial Exhibits. The Society will, as in previous years, offer about fifty Gold and Silver Medals, as well as cash prizes in each of the above stated sections ol Exhibits, and in addition hereto a large number of Valuable Special Prizes in cash and in plate have been promised, bringing the total amount fully up to the average of the last three years. Winners of medals will have the option cf taking in lieu thereof £1 cash for Silver Medals, and £2 for Gold Medals. A Leaping Match, a Shearing Match, and a trial of Sheep Dogs will take place during the afternoon. Programmes and Prize Lists giving full information as to conditions of entry, regulations of judging and and all other details, are now being prepared, and will be published and circulated shortly. Arrange* meats will be made to run SPECIAL TRAINS At reduced retee, also to heve the Show Dejr Proclaimed a Bank and General Holiday throughout the Valley. Intending Exhibitors are informed that entries close on SATURDAY, the 23rd October, 188«, st Noon, either st the Secretary’s Office, Carterton, or at the offices of Messrs B. Brown and Co, Masterton, F. H. Wood, and Co, Greytown, and J. D. Oakly, Featberston, and that no entries can be received after that date. All communications in reference to the Show addressed to the Secretary at Carterton, either by letter or telegram, will be promptly attended to. Admission to the Show Ground—Members free; non members, before noon, 2i 6d ; after noon Is. For the purpose of affording more adequate encouragement to certain classes of Exhibits, such as DOGS, POULTRY, PIGEONS, INDUSTRIES. THE CLYDESDALE ENTIRE HORSE GLADSTONE, ILL travel in the Wairsrapa District this season, '' icavin Masterton every Monday. GLADSTONE is by Prince Royal (30) dam a Welling* ton mare grand dam imported from Victoria, The well-known Clydesdale Stallion Prince Royal was bred by Mr D. McQaeen, Smeaton, Victoria, and was imported by his recent owner, Mr John McKellar, Doylestown, Canterbury. Prince Royal is by Prince Charlie, who was imported by Messrs J. and M. Mclntosh from Scotland, where he gained 7 first prizes—his dam Blossom by Bothwell was also imported from Scotland. Prince Royal is a rich brown color, stands 16 hands and 3 inches, showing great symmetry of form, with plenty of bone and hair of the best fashion. Prince Royal commenced bis career as a prize taker at two years old, securing second place at Ballarat, and find at Smeaton, where he was only beaten by Darwin——the winner of the Sires* Produce Stake of £6O. Since his arrival in this colony he has always been a prize-taker in every show yard where he has been entered. At the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s Metropolitan Bhowoflßßo, he was awarded the Association medal andtl the' President's Cup as the best draught stallion on the ground.
