THE GRAND ANNUAL SHOW Uader the Auspices and Directions ol the WAIRARAPA & EAST COAST PASTORAL AND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY Will be held on the SOCIETY’S SHOW GROUNDS. CARTERTON. ON WEDNESDAY. NOVEMBER 3, 1886. THE SHOW Will include Horses, Cattle. Sheep, Pip Implementa, Farm and Dairy Produce, Vehicles and Industrial Exhibits. The Society will, as m previous years, offer about fifty Gold and Silver Medals, as well as cash prizes in eacn of the above stated sections ot Exhibits, and in addition hereto a large number of Valuable. Special Prizes in cash and in plate have been promised, bringing the total amount fully up to the average of the last three years. Winners ol medals will have the option cf taking io lieu thereof £1 cash for Silver Medals, and £2 for Gold Medals. A Leaping Match, a Shearing Match, and u trial of Sheep Dogs will take place during the afternoon. Programmes and Prize Lists giving lull information as to conditions of entry, regulations of judging and | and all other details, are now being prepared, and will be published and circulated shortly. Arrangements will be made to run SPECIAL TRAINS At reduced rates, also to hare the Show Day Proclaimed a Bank and General Holiday throughout the Valley. Intending .Exhibitors are informed that entriee close on SATURDAY, the 23rd October, 1888, at Noon, either et the Secretary’s Office, Carterton, or at the offices of Hesere B. Brown and Co, Maeterton, F. H. Wood, and Co, Qraytown, and J. D Oakly, Featheraton, and that no entriee can be reoeired after that date. GLADSTONE ia by Prince Royal (30) dam a Wellington mare grand dam imported from Victoria. The well-known Clydesdale Stallion Prince Royal was brad by Mr D. McQueen, Smeaton, Victor is, and was imported by hie recent owner, Mr John McKeller, Doyleetown, Canterbury. Prince Royal is by Prince Charlie, who was imported by Messrs J. and M. Mclntosh from Scotland, where be gaiued 7 first prizes—his dam Blossom by BothweU was also imported from Scotland. Prince Royal is a rich brown color, stands 16 bands and 3 inches, showing great symmetry of form, with plenty of bone and hair of the best fashion. Prince Royal commenced his career as a prize taker at two years old, securing second place at Ballarat, and 2nd at Smeaton, where he was only beaten by Darwin——the winner of the Sires’ Produce Stake of £6O. Since his arrival in this colony he has always been a prize-taker in every show yard where he has been entered. At the Canterbury Agricnltural and Pastoral Association’s Metropolitan Show oflßßo, he was awarded the Association medal and the President's Cup as the best draught stallion on the ground. His stock are now beginning to speak for themselves, notably Ur Steddsrt’s colt Lord Raglan, who took first prize as a three-year-old at Christchurch last year ; Mr Pocook's Prince Victor ; Mr J. Bong's Bayal Prince ; and Mr Todd's oolt Kevin, all prize takers—' together with a numerous progeny of promising youngsters—many of which bid fair to oon the blue at no distant date, Terms—; £2 payable in Jennary 1887, and £2 when the mare proves in toal.
