THE GRAND ANNUAL SHOW Udder the Auspices and Directions ol the WAIKARAPA & EAST COAST PASTORAL AND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY Will be held on the SOCIETY’S SHOW GROUNDS. CARTERTON, ON WEDNESDAY. NOVEMBER 3, 1886. THE SHOW Will include Horace, Cattle. Sheep, Tin, Implements, Farm and Dairy Produce, Vehicle* and Industrial Exhibits. The Society will, as in preview yean, offer about fifty Gold and Silver Medal*, as w*U as cash prizes in each of the above stated sections of Exhibits, and in addition hereto a large number of Valuable Special Prizes in cash and ua been promised, bringing the total amount folly up to the average of the laet three years. Winners of medals will have the option ef taking in lieu thereof £1 caeb for Silver Medala, and £2 for Gold Medala. A Leaping Match, a Shearing Match, and a trial of Sheep Doga will take place during the afternoon. Programmes and Prise Lists giving full information aa to condition! of entry, regulation! of judging and and all other detaila, are now being prepared, and will be published and circulated shortly- Arrangements will be made to tun SPECIAL TRAINS At reduced ratea, also to have the Show Day Proclaimed a Bank and General Holiday throughout the Valley. • —■ Intending Exhibitor! are informed that entriee oloee on SATURDAY, the 23rd October, 1886, at Noon, either at the Secretary's Office, Carterton, or at the offices of Messrs B. All commnnioations in reference to the Show addressed to the Secretary at Carterton, either by letter or telegram, will be promptly attended to. Prince Royal is by Prince Charlie, who wee imported by Messrs J. and M, Mclntosh from Scotland, where he gained 7 first prizes—his dam Blossom by Botbwell was also imported from Scotland. Prince Royal is a rich brown color, sUnds 16 hands and 3 inches, showing great symmetry of form, with plenty of bone and hair of the best fashion. Prino# Royal commenced his career as a prize taker at two years old, securing second place at Ballarat, and 2nd at Smeaton, where he was only beaten by Darwin——the winner of the Sires’ Produce Stake of £6O Since his arrival in this colony he has always been a prize-taker in every show yard where he has been entered. At the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s Metropolitan Show oflßßo, he was awarded the Association medal and the President's Cup as the best draught stallion on the ground. His stock are now beginning to speak (or thenuelvee, notably Mr Steddsrt’a colt Lord Raglan, who took first prize aa a thrce-year-old at Christchurch last year ; Mr Paoock’a Prince Victor; Mr J. Boag’s Royal Prince ; and Mr Todd’s colt Kevin, all prize Ukeritogether with a numerous progeny of promising youngsters—many of which bid fair to don the blue at no distant date, Terms—£4 ;£2 payable in January 1887, and £2 when (he mare proves in ioal.
