Bulgarian Affairs.
London, October 3. Lord Bandolph Churchill, in addressing a Conservative meeting at Deptford, referred at some length to the position of affairs in Eastern Europe. He dwelt en the many efforts England had made to assist nations in gaining liberty. He rejoiced that Austria bad taken the lead in endeaveuring to pre* serve the freedom and autonomy of the countries of the Balkan Peninsula. Some of the Great Powers were inclined to be contentious and others were anxious (or maintenance of peace. If compelled to ehooeo, England would sympathise with Bulgaria, and England’s adhesion would probably serve to avert war. It is believed that Austria will only fight if Bulgaria resists. Oct 4. The existence of a plot in which it had been arranged that General Eaulbars should overthrow the Bulgarian Regency has been betrayed. The Regents, replying to the Russian ultimatum demanding the adjournment of the elections for the Grand Assembly, and the release of the prisoners implicated in t ie arrest and deposition of Prince Alexam’ar have expressed their willingness to comply so far as the Bnlgarion laws will permit, tii ueral Kaulbars is not satisfied with this, cad insists on a more precise answer.
