Volunteering.

An inspection parade of the Carterton WM held on W tiloesday evening in the To*n Hall, Captain Bennett, Lient Moore, 5 sergeant*, and 29 rank and file being present. After drill Dr Johnson delivered a lecture on “ Ambulance,” and the general public who were preeent, together with volunteers, were much interested in the subject of the doctor’s discourse. The Shooting Committee of the Carterton Rifle \oluuteers have arranged a match between the second and third teams to be fired on Saturday next, firing to commence at noon abarp. The second team will allow the third 60 points and with this handicap there should be a close match. The following are the teams selected :—First team (to stand ont of this match), Lieut|Mcore, Color Sergt Beid, Sergt Beid, Sergt Fairbrother, l/orpl Boys, Corpl Goodin, Vols P Goodin, B W Fairbrother, J Moore, Jas Beid ; emergencies, Corpl Bairstow, Vols Hooper and Dadton. Second team :—Sergt Clifton, Corpl Bairatow, Bugler Biaiup.Vcls Dempsey, Dodson, B Goodin, T Moore, Hooper, Bathbone, J C Beid. Third Team Capt Bennett, Sergt Crawley, Vols C Bennett, E and A Diamond, C Fairbrother, Hughan, lie Portland, J, and W J Waterson. It is particularly requested that all the men who possibly can, will attend, as the scoresmade on Saturday may encourage the committee to arrange junior matebee against other corps.
