Perches for Fowls.
To the Editor of the Standard.
Sin,—l am pleased to know that the people of Greytown read with interest the correspondence column of the Stanlukk, and it is gratifying to find that when one writes it has the effect of stirring up a little excitement. “ Rooster ’’ has sprang to his perch, flapped his wings and crowed for the Council Like Peter 1 wept bitterly, but am inclined to the thought that he conceived the idea of the perches, or that he is a member of the Council- He is charitable enough to wish that 1 had hung myself publicly, and so saved being sent to the Lunatic Asylum. Such an idea is on a par with the one that originated the Borough Council perches. However, the streets are named, and our Borough Councillors have got a name for the wisdom (?) they have displayed in the ereotiou of those wooden perches. Let me suggest to that august body that they in future sign all their documents thus “ Greytown Borough Council T their mark.” A rooster on the cross piece would be a lilting emblem in addition. I am, Ac., Pickwick.
