INTERPROVINCIAL MATCH. AUCKLAND ▼. WELLINGTON. The interprovincial football match, Auckland v. Wellington, took place on Wednesday afternoon on the Rugby Ground, Newmarket. There were 8000 spectators present, and there would have been 2000 more had the railway authorities made any arrangements. As it was thousands walked out in the mud, including several ladies. The whole of the tram* ways, 'buses, cabs, &c., were unable to overtake the demands of the travelling public. The weather was fine but the ground was heavy from the recent rains making the play slow. The Wellington team was heatm, alter a hard mate:', by 4 points to 2. Considering that the We ling ton team was the visiting team, and ln.it tiis Auckland representatives formed one of the very strongest provincial teams that ever went into a field in New Zealand, the N Z. Time? eo odder* that the Wellington men have doaa exceedingly well, and the result is highly creditable to the football efficiency of Wellington.
