Meeting of Creditors.
A meeting of the creditors of W. Bishop, hotelkeeper, Carterton, was held at Master* ton on Monday. Mr Bunny appeared for the Olhcial Assignee, and Mr Beard for the debtor. Nine creditors were present. The statement filed slewed liabilities £595 121 id ; assets consisting of book debts, £IOO. The following are the principal creditors D. Booth, £358 17s id ; Andrew McKenzie, _/j6 1153 d; G. Strike £2! ; Kodd, £4O ; Lane & Co., 18s 6d ; C. Cheymol, /30. Jeffery, £6O , I). Sullivan, £g 4s 3d ; F. Felling, £22 : Preston, £9. The debtor in reply to Mr Bunny said he had carried on business iu Carterton as landlord of the White Hart for two years. He sold cut to Mrs Buckeridge, wife of the landlord ofthc Marquis of Normanby on2yth July for £3OO. Out of this £ll2 for goods supplied was payed to Mr Buckeridge ; £3O to \\ . Booth for money borrowed ; £29 18s 2d for rent : £7 ros to Mr Wolters ; 17s 3d groom's wages ; 15s, due to billiard inaiker, £5 8s to housemaid, £4 2s barmaid, £ i ns nursemaid, £0 for filing, £l2 boarding and lodging since leaving the hotel ; £26 to Mrs Bishop for thirteen weeks wages ; £l3 tohis sou for wages as waiter at 20s per week. He had been paying L 36 19s 2d monthly fur rent of hotel, Lyceum Hall and Agricultural Show Grounds. A resolution was passed on the motion of Mr Parsons seconded by Mr Catt instructing the Assignee to realise the estate as speedily as possible.
A Ural; meeting of the creditors of Henry Cook] ot Feathcrstou, wasjreldat Masterton on .Monday. Mr K. S. Stanslield, deputy assignee presided. No creditors attending the meeting was adjourned till the following day. The liabilities were stated to amount to £lOl ys 8d and the assets consisting of household furniture amounted to £co. The debtor, who was briefly examined attnbuted his losses to the leasing of billiard rooms at Gievtown and Fcatherston and falling off in business.
At a meeting of the creditors of George Duncan and Sous, at Masterton, on Monday the statement shewed liabilities, unsecured, £1458 tis lUd ; secured, £2OO ; assets stockin trade, £OOO ; book debts, £llOO ; property Ac,, £IOO ; total, £2230. The only secured creditors are W. H. Levin and Co., who am secured for £2OO. The unsecured creditors are as follows ;—W. H.
