The Rabbit Pest in North Wairarapa.
As bearing upon the subject of our article referring to Mr Bayly’s report, ere note that a large meeting of settlers of North Wairararapa was held at Masterton on Wednesday, at which it was resolved, " That this meeting regrets that the result of the past efforts to destroy rabbits in the North Wairarapa districts has not been so successful as desirable, and bears with great satisfaction that the department is now taking active steps to ensure the more efficient administration of the Babbit Act." Several resolutions were passed, recommending remedies and simultaneous action in poisoning, erecting wire netting on the boundaries, and introducing natural enemies, and also an amendment to the 9th section of the Babbit Act.
