Agricultural.
The Victor! an Department ol Agriculture has received from America 100 bushels of Mexican wheat which was ordered with tbs view of its distribution for seed amongst the farmers desiri ms of trying it. The wheat is now being sea t out in small quantities to those who ha< 1 made application for it. It has been pro 1 red by the experience ot the Northern farm ers that this wheat matures tick weeks ear. tier than the earliest varieties grown in the e olony. Such a wheat should be worth trying in this part of New Zealand. The possibility sof bad weather in the harvest season, an 1 the fact that often harvest is delayed till ' vinter has almost set in, is a great drawbad 1 to the successful wheat growing, and no doubt prevents many fannors from ; sowing that crop. The six weeks would mi ike all the difference between failure and succ ess. No doubt the Victorian Agricultural De partment would supply the Farmer’s Club with a sample if they applied for it.
